2017 Alondra Chardonnay
Our 2017 Alondra Chardonnay is sourced from three old vine vineyards just West of the Russian River in Mendocino County near Hopland. These three vineyards are planted to clone 4 and a Dijon clone. Our goal here is to continue the exploration of un-oaked chardonnay, exhibiting varietal character without the sweet oak component. Think old world, with wet stone, flinty, lemony acidity, age-worthiness and linear chardonnay character over heavy richness. We are re-thinking the chardonnay paradigm, aiming for effortless ethereal character rather than heavy extraction.
Bright lemon. Aromas of wet stone, lemon, and citrus, with green apple and spiced pear. The 2017 is a fresh and invigorating style of chardonnay, with the stone and lemony acidity characters opening into subtle notes of apple and pear blossom with aeration. A refreshing, clean style with youthful exuberance and mouth-watering acidity.
Alondra is Spanish for Skylark
