Alondra – Spanish for Skylark – is our Chardonnay sourced from a small block of Davis Clone 4 planted in 1981 on alluvial soils in Hopland. This vineyard is a perfect foil for our mantra in Chardonnay – purity of fruit without the aspect of wood influence, light on its feet yet able to deliver that varietal texture and palate presence without being overly rich. The 2019 vintage was particularly adept at delivering our style with late spring flowering, a relatively mild summer and then the August heat to deliver those final flavors. We picked on September 5^th at first light under ideal conditions, then whole cluster pressed into stainless steel for its traditional elevage. The result is chardonnay with energy, purity of fruit and plenty of underlying substance.

Pale yellow. Aromatics of Granny Smith apple, lemon curd and complexities of ripe tropical fruits. The palate is a conversation between freshness and fleshiness, where ripeness and brightness find their commonality. Textured and yet vivid, the tropical fruits and lemony citrus notes are refined, suave and savory. The finish dovetails into engaging freshness, inviting the palate for multiple encores.
