2022 Alondra Cabernet Napa

2022 Alondra Cabernet is sourced from two venerable vineyards in Napa Valley – one in Oakville and one in Rutherford. Each site was meticulously farmed with low yields, exacting canopy management and all natural preparations. Although 2022 did have several heat spikes that made farming difficult, both these sites had plenty of water retention for vine health. After a brief September rain, we sat through beautiful Indian Summer weather and harvested both sites in the third week of October. Each lot was optically sorted before an extremely gentle press into the fermentation tank. High tech cap management was employed before being racked to tight grain French cooperage of which 50% was new. After the barrel selection was made, the lots were racked and returned for the final months of elevage. Bottling was done without fining or filtration.
Opaque. Aromatics of cassis, blackberry and black plum with a dusting of cocoa powder. The palate exudes the density and depth of Napa Cabernet, with the plush and textural black fruits coating the palate with fruit viscosity. The tannins are fine-grained and yet evident, providing structure and balance for the ripe fruit profile. There is a graceful character to this 2022 Cabernet while showing the power and layers of fruit that make Napa Cabernet so special. 90 cases produced
