2022 Skylark Pink Belly Rosé

$19.00

Skylark Pink Belly Rose is sourced from Kurt Ashurst’s Grenache vineyard just outside of Hopland in Mendocino. Kurt farms this solely for our Rose production, picking early to preserve freshness and acidity, the hallmark characteristics of Pink Belly Rose. While we don’t need to utter the D(rought) word in 2023, 2022 was a hot and dry vintage in Northern California. While many factors were involved, very dry soils led to reduced yields throughout our vineyards in 2022. Kurt’s Grenache vineyard was light in ‘22, but not as severe as many other vineyards we farm. The small yields of this vintage show in the fruit concentration, but a citrus and lemon zest component provides an exacting lift and freshness to the bright finish. The 2022 Pink Belly wears its 12.8% alcohol perfectly, delivering its red fruits into a complex and inviting finish.

Pale salmon color. Aromas of red cherry and just ripe watermelon followed by lemon skin and a subtle note of guava. The aromas follow through on the palate, with the fresh fruits of summer lifted by a snap of lemony acidity. The overall palate impression is juicy yet linear and fresh, providing that rose experience that is lively and eminently quaffable.
